I stumbled upon one of the coolest security camera items I have ever come across. This little robot can be controlled over the Internet, so you can log into it from work and drive it around your home!
Completely wireless, it enables you to view live high resolution video and sound as it roams around your home. I was surprised to learn it actually uses MPEG4 video compression, which is usually found in high-end CCTV solutions. This enables unusually high video quality.

It also features a two-way microphone allowing full communication with people or pets in your home. Imagine the fun you could have with a dog or cat.
The robot can be programmed to patrol your home in up to 10 predefined paths, avoiding any obstacles using a beam of infrared light. It’s equipped with 3 wheels which allow it to turn 360 degrees in the same spot.
The security camera is located on a boom which can be raised for a better vantage point, sending back 640×480 images through an Internet connection. It can also be programmed to periodically email you photos during its patrol.
It requires a wireless router to connect to the Internet, which is commonly found in many homes these days. If you don’t have a wireless router, you can buy one at Best Buy (or any computer shop) for around $30.
The robot can run up to 2 hours on a single charge; then it automatically returns to the included base to charge for another 2 hours before it’s ready again. You can also command it to return to the base to charge remotely through the Internet too.
